Serve at cos

First-Impressions Team

Our mission is to glorify God by reducing the barriers between guest and God on Sunday mornings. It can be intimidating to walk into an unfamiliar building full of unfamiliar faces and figure out where to go and how to “do” church. FIT volunteers help guests navigate that experience with engaging, friendly and biblical hospitality. Would you prayerfully consider being part of our team in helping to steward hospitality? Take up the awesome privilege of intersecting your life with someone whose steps God himself has directed to our doorstep! We are looking for greeters, guest-services hosts, ushers and more. Ready to make a lasting impression? Email us for full details and any questions.

Here's how you can help! Consider joining our team serving once or twice a month as a Sunday school teacher, aide, hallway monitor, AWANA teacher/aide, summer camp counselor, nurse, assistant, creative artist, musician and more. There are lots of ways to serve—just reach out to any of our Kids Ministry coordinators and ask! We get the opportunity to love kids every week, develop meaningful relationships with them and lay a strong foundation for the next generation. We love serving side by side with you, in Jesus' name! Email Kids Ministry Director Katerina Simbo for more information, and click here for our volunteer application and further details.

Band Auditions

Are you a musician or singer? Our modern worship team is holding open auditions for anyone interested in serving in the worship band. Maybe you’ve been sitting out there thinking about getting involved but are not sure about it.... We would love to get connected, answer any questions you may have and start the process of getting you involved in God’s ministry here! Email Worship Pastor Jim Dougherty for full details.

Singers / Orchestral Musicians

Our traditional worship team is holding open auditions for singers and orchestral musicians, encouraging all choristers and instrumentalists to become involved. Join us for inspiring experiences! Email Worship Associate Andy Lenko for next steps.

Audio-Visual Team

Our in-person and online services are only possible with the help of a team of dedicated volunteers who make things look and sound as good as possible—and we’re always looking for more help. Anyone willing to learn can serve as a camera operator, projection operator, audio mixer or video producer (or maybe several of these!). Scheduling is flexible and limited to Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings. For more information about serving on the AV team at COS, email Media Arts Manager Dave Rogel.

Prayer Team

Do you have a heart for prayer? Join our team of people dedicated to petitioning to the Lord on behalf of those in our congregation by receiving an emailed list of prayer requests each week. To be added to the team, please email us.

Special Needs Ministry

We are looking for adult volunteers with a heart for service and listening. Volunteers do not have to have prior experience or training (although if you do that is also helpful).   We need people to provide encouragement and support for young adults with varying abilities and special needs during our fellowship and social meetings, lead worship songs, games and activities, and Bible stories, and/or set-up rooms and snacks. We have three to four planning meetings per year.
We are looking for people with openness to learn more about interacting with adults and/or children with varying abilities and special needs through training. Contact Family Pastor Stephen Chang to participate.

Celebrate Recovery

It's been said that the church is not a museum of saints but a hospital for sinners. Celebrate Recovery serves as the emergency room for anyone struggling with hurts, hang-ups and habits that hinder their relationships with God, others and themselves. We have all developed coping mechanisms to deal with brokenness, from codependency, control, overspending and self-righteousness to chemical dependence or a gambling addiction. Volunteers play a crucial role in helping people pull through; email the CR team for full details.

Student Ministry

Are you passionate about impacting the next generation for Jesus Christ? We make it a priority to disciple middle- and high-school students by creating spaces where they can come to love God, love others & serve the world. Discipleship happens through life-on-life experiences; our students are not looking for perfect volunteers, but genuine ones who want to walk the Christian life with them through teaching, helping with the creative arts, media and so much more. Email Deborah Bitzer to see how you can help our teens experience our Lord Jesus Christ in Wayne and beyond!

Women's Ministry

Serving Our Community
  • Prayer Against Human Trafficking – consider serving through prayer with a team of women who meet the 3rd Thursday of the month to pray against human trafficking. Join us either in-person in the Welcome Center or on Zoom. Email Debby Dunn for more information.
  • We are advocates for women who are victims of trafficking. One way we choose to support them is to host on our campus the Worth It program in partnership with Worthwhile Wear. These 8-week programs run twice a year in the fall and spring. If you’d like to learn more about the program and how to get involved, contact Deneen McDonald.

Serve our community

Stephen Ministry

We are currently looking for mature Christians with strong faith, who are good listeners and possess the spiritual gifts of encouragement, mercy, and wisdom. Serve The world

Serving our world is for everyone. We want to reach the very ends of the earth with the love of Jesus. Our short-term teams are the way we work to humble ourselves and be the hands and feet of Jesus to those in need internationally. We also work to serve Internationals in our own community, so they know they matter to us & to God.

Short-term Mission Teams

Are you ready to serve the world? We are currently planning our trips for 2022. We want to see you go! For more information or to apply click here!

English as a Second Language

Our ESL program is full of adult English learners that come from around the world, are at different stages in life and range from beginning to advanced English levels. We need teachers, classroom assistants, childcare helpers and people to bring snacks for our break time. We create a fun, conversational learning environment for the students; encouraging friendships, activities outside of the classroom and opportunities to learn more about Jesus. Contact Debra G. to learn how you can get involved.

International Students

Would you join us in serving and loving the internationals students in our area? This year we are collecting furniture, matching it with students in need and delivering it to them. If you can help through donating furniture, delivery, loaning a vehicle or connecting with a student, please fill out this form: If you want to get involved in planning social events or professional development workshops, contact
